Legal medical industry in Arizona
Interested in serving as the vital link between medical marijuana patients and proprietors? Permitted via certification from the Arizona Department of Health Services, caregivers are crucial because they provide medical marijuana to eligible patients who may be physically unable access their nearest dispensary because of the severity of their illness or proximity to their zone’s dispensary.
There are a number of ways through which an eligible Medical Marijuana patient would be able to access cannabis, and one of the most popular ones comes in the form of a co-op system.
These co-ops are comprised of a coalition of doctors and caregivers that help visiting patients.
They are non-profit organizations shaped by cultivators, a collective group of patients, doctors and caregivers. The end goal of these types of co-ops is provide access to medical marijuana in a way that suits patients who qualify under the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act. Co-ops are actually state-recognized entities that are democratically controlled by the members, and joining a co-op is as simple as submitting an application and a copy of your Arizona Medical Marijuana Caregiver credentials. The same can probably be said of the customer service mechanism these organizations usually have in place.
Often, a co-op will be near a cultivation site. When customers arrive to the building they go up to a window and give the required documentation - their medical marijuana card. A volunteer at the spot would then calls one of the doctors working in the co-op to confirm that the given individual is indeed authorized to consume medical marijuana.
After this point the volunteer becomes the customer’s designated provider, and offers them some of the strains that the co-op grows or stores on-site.
