Legal medical industry in Arizona
Arizona Hemp Center's Medical Marijuana Blog is a continually updated resource of news and information regarding proposition 203 in Arizona and medical marijuana use across the country. Our goal is to help promote the drug as a viable method of treatment for certain illnesses, and also share best practices for consumption on medical marijuana.
Methods of purchasing medical marijuana have reached controversial levels as of late. Most, if not all, health insurance companies still refuse to cover medical marijuana under any level of coverage and now American Express has suspended all processing of charges made at dispensaries. This leaves people with questions.
What forms will I be able to pay with at the dispensary? Can I pay my caregiver to obtain it? Will my existing health insurance reimburse me?
Since Medical Marijuana has been such a high risk business and is not covered by the FDA; health insurance companies refuse to cover or even speak about the issue. However, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona’s medical director, Dr. Dan Aspery, spoke of issue saying that if the law were to change then insurance companies such as Blue Cross would entertain the idea of adding extended coverage to existing plans with pricier premiums for customers. American Express has not issued any statement as to why they have suddenly suspended all processing of payments made with their card for the purchase of medical marijuana in any instance.
In regards to purchases made by your registered caregiver, they will be able to purchase the legal limit of two and a half ounces per every 14 weeks for you with those forms of payment listed.
