Legal medical industry in Arizona
Arizona is among 15 states that have laws permitting eligible patients to consume medicinal marijuana for the treatment of approved conditions and terminal illnesses. Eligibility for a marijuana recommendation depends upon both type and severity of an illness, and all patients must first speak with a physician to determine if medical marijuana is the right treatment for them.
In order to obtain a Arizona Medical Marijuana card, you are first required to complete an Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) application form for enrollment into the medical marijuana program. Once you’ve submitted your application, an eligible physician must fill out an ADHS physician form. The patient must visit a physician they are currently seeing or get their records from that physician and take them to one who provides the service of certified recommendations for medical marijuana.
In order to get a recommendation, you must seek out a clinic which specializes in providing Recommendation Certifications for the Arizona medical marijuana program. One you have found a clinic in your area, a qualified physician must provide you with a written, signed statement saying that marijuana would be medically beneficial for your debilitating conditions.
After you have obtained this document - which you can download for free by joining the Arizona Hemp Center's community of Medical Marijuana enthusiasts - you will need to sign an ADHS form stating that you will not be diverting marijuana to any person who can’t possess marijuana legally (pursuant to A.R.S. Title 36, Chapter 28.1.)
Once these steps have been completed, you may proceed to obtaining your medical marijuana card.
